Rationale
At Vanderbilt University Employees Credit Union, member privacy is top priority. This policy describes how we protect the privacy of members’ personal information. Throughout this notice, the word “information” refers to personal information about our members that may not be publicly available.
Information That We Collect And Disclose To Others
We collect information about our members from the following sources:

Information we receive from members on applications and other forms such as name, address, social security number, assets, and income.

Information about members’ transactions with others and us such as account balance, payment history, parties to transactions.

This may be obtained from members’ current or past employers, or from other institutions where members conduct financial transactions.

We may disclose nonpublic personal information about members to the following types of third parties:

Financial services providers such as those that provide insurance services, mortgage services, data processing, or consumer reporting

We may also disclose information about members under other circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on behalf of the member, conduct the operation of our credit union, follow the members’ instructions as they authorize, or protect the security of our financial records.
Disclosure of Information About Former Members
If a member decides to terminate membership with us or become an inactive member, we will not share information we have collected about the member, except as may be permitted or required by law.
How We Protect Member Information
We restrict access to information about members to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to the members. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard member information.

Electronic Privacy/Security
Vanderbilt University Employees' Credit Union has security measures in place to
protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information within our Web site.
Visitors to our Web site will remain anonymous unless you choose to provide
personal information by submitting forms or applications contained within this
site. The personal information you provide will be used discretely and solely
for the use of the Vanderbilt University Employees' Credit Union to better serve
its customers.
Because this site does not currently use encryption, information is sent to us
via e-mail may be vulnerable as is any other e-mail message traveling via the
Internet. Due to this risk, we do not ask for highly-sensitive information such
as credit card, account, or social security numbers. If you do not wish to
provide information online, you may call us at (615) 936-0300, or fax us
at (615) 936-0464. This site does not use cookies.
Collecting User Information
Our Web server collects standard, non-identifying information about our Web site
visitors such as the date, time, Web page visited, and IP address. We may also
collect e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail. This
information is used to compile statistics and aggregate information on the usage
of our Web site. We use this information to improve the content of our Web site,
and to better serve our customers through special marketing and service
programs. This information will only be used internally by the Vanderbilt University Employees' Credit Union and we will not share this information with other
organizations. We do not compile, buy, sell, rent or trade customer e-mail
lists. We do not make the e-mail addresses of those who access our Web site
available to others.
